FAIR PLAY. PERIOD.

The HMHRA firmly believes that in order to provide a fair and fun atmosphere for the players, coaches, and fans, our members should hold themselves to a high standard of behaviour both on and off the ice. Our members are encouraged to be very aware that because of their position of responsibility and authority on the ice they are expected to remain calm, cool, and collected during high stress situations to the best of their ability.
Please see below for the Hockey Canada Fair Play Code for Officials and NEW Maltreatment Rules (Section 11 in the HC Rulebook).
This does not mean, however, that any official should accept that maltreatment or abuse should be tolerated in any way. Treating people with a lack of respect is not "part of the game". We lose officials every year because of negative interactions at the rink. If you are subjected to any form of disrespectful, abusive, and/or harassing behaviour while at the rink performing your duties as an official, ensure that the proper penalty or report is recorded on the game sheet. If you have any questions or require support, please contact any member of the executive to discuss the incident. We are here for you and would be more than happy to help you to navigate next steps.
